Girl In the Wild Adventure Association is a non-profit organization that provides free confidence-building camps in wild spaces to struggling teenagers who self-identify as girls and non-binary.

Girl In The Wild Board of Directors

Our program curriculum is part adventure, part vulnerability and real talk. Our aim is to support all girls in learning to love themselves and each other with an end goal of eradicating self-loathing for good.

As a young organization, we’re deeply committed to building a board that mirrors our values as people and an organization—social inclusion, equity, and diversity, including those with lived experience struggling with eating disorders, bullying, self-harm, substance abuse, and mental health.

Our Board

The Girl In The Wild board is a policy governance board as opposed to an operational board, which means that the role of our Board of Directors is an incredibly important one: governance of the organization.

Although board officers are assigned responsibility for certain areas, we carry out our responsibilities with one voice and ensure that all activities and decisions align with the heart and soul, values and vision of Girl In The Wild.

The Opportunity

We are seeking 3-6 Board Members with experience in one or ideally more than one of the following areas who care deeply about our next generation of girls and has an interest and/or background in adventure and the healing power of Mother Nature:

  • Board & Governance experience including related to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice
  • Legal experience
  • Fundraising and/or grant writing expertise

The Board meets once every two months. Board Members are expected to volunteer between 5-8 hours per month and sign on for a two-year term (which can be renewed at the Annual General Meeting).

We encourage applications from equity-seeking people, especially those who identify as Black, Indigenous, and racialized women and gender-diverse people, especially those living with intersecting marginalized identities and experiences, to reflect the diverse communities we serve at GITW.

If you’re a nature-loving human who has talent and time and love to help our organization help more young girls rise, we’d love to hear from you.
