Our Mission

Inspire teenagers who self-identify as girls, non-binary, or genderqueer to love themselves and each other.

We use time in the wild together to inspire change; to help teenagers rise up and face their fears and demons. To launch anvils off of their chests and into the ether. To be free birds who see clearly that they are enough and always have been, that they are nothing short of amazing actually, and there’s no disputing that fact.

Our Vision

Eradicate self-loathing for good

Zero youth feeling crappy about themselves. Zero young people grimacing when they look in the mirror. The self-loathing dragon will be slayed. Girl In The Wild is the sword to do it.

Our diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice philosophy

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice. These are more than just words for us. They’re the lifeforce behind the work we do. They’re guiding principles for how we build our team, create courageous spaces for young people, and leave our hearts open for the lessons we will learn along the way.

We openly admit: This will not be a simple, linear journey for us. We will undoubtedly make mistakes along the way. But we trust in our fierce will to grow, learn, and rise together. We owe nothing less than that to our next generation.

Our commitments

We honour the diverse life experiences brought to our board and leadership and we aim to give these experiences value.

We commit to building meaningful relationships and working closely with local Indigenous communities.

We will dedicate our efforts and resources to ensuring diversity and inclusion within our board and leadership positions.

We will ensure our programs, policies and principles reflect and support the rich diversity of the communities we aim to serve.

We strive to address individual, institutional and systemic inequities that impact our work at the board level and in accordance with our mission.

We commit to ensuring transparency in how we express our commitment to these values in our work.

Meet our camp leaders

These human beings have heaps of passion and piles of experience. They’re all badass in their own right, incredibly kind, and totally weird and wacky, too. You’ll love them. We sure do.
